Emergencies in Dental Operatory

ED visits for dental care are on the rise. Some dental conditions can progress to life-threatening complications; stabilizing patients in such cases is incumbent on the emergency physician, as is management of pain and, to some extent, of the dental condition or injury itself. This article reviews basic dental anatomy as well as nontraumatic and traumatic causes of dental pain.
